Rain has been washing out events across the state this summer, but in the Queen City, Summervale is finally back in action.
The weekly festival hosted by the Intervale Center celebrates local food and musicians. Thursday's event was the first of the season due to heavy rain in previous weeks. Organizers say the turnout was the largest in Summervale's 9-year history and was much needed after a wet June.
"This has been an especially tough summer for farmers in Vermont, and especially Intervale Farms. We had some flooding last week and it's been a really rough season. And one thing that's great about this event is that it's uplifting," said Chelsea Frisbee of the Intervale.
Organizers say the festival will be extended through September to make up for the June washouts.
