WATERFORD, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police investigators say a defect in the braking system led to the crash of a cruiser in the town of Waterford.
Police say the cruiser driven by Trooper Matthew Tarricone was traveling east on Mad Brook Road in Waterford toward the Vermont Route 18 intersection late Wednesday when the brake system lost partial power as he approached a stop sign.
Tarricone's vehicle went through the intersection and came to stop in a ditch on the other side.
There were no injuries and the vehicle suffered only minor damage.
Police say an inspection of the vehicle found a mechanical defect that led to the crash.
