Bennington traffic stop nets police 400 bags of heroin.

Police say a New York City man used a taxi to traffic $5,000 worth of heroin into Vermont.

Thursday night, Bennington Police stopped the cab on Main Street for a motor vehicle violation. Police searched the taxi and found 400 bags of heroin and a small amount of marijuana in passenger Shamel Alexander's bag. The 25-year-old Brooklyn man is facing drug trafficking charges. He's being held for lack of $100,000 bail.
