BARRE, Vt. -- Although NASCAR star Clint Bowyer's appearance to compete in the Governor's Cup grabbed the headlines, there was plenty of drama to spare for the Tiger and Street Stock features as well Thursday night at Thunder Road.
In the Tiger Sportsman feature, for most of the 35-lap event Randy Gonyaw was battling door to door with Eric Badore, while Mike Martin hugged their bumpers looking for a chance to make his move.
Late in the race, Martin thought he had his moment, diving below Badore going into turn one. The two would make contact and that gives Gonyaw a little bit of breathing room. The South Barre driver would take advantage of it, holding off Badore and Martin for his first win of the season and the third of his career.
Tommy Elwood dominated the early laps of the Street Stock feature, but a yellow flag on lap ten restacked the field. After the restart, Tommy Smith came up to challenge Elwood and the two eventually make contact going into turn four setting off a chain reaction crash that collects up to a dozen cars.
With the two leaders out of the running for the win, Greg Adams makes the most of the opportunity, racing almost unchallenged to the victory. It's the third straight for the Hardwick driver. Bunker Hodgdon was second, Dean Switser third.
