Investigators say a house fire in Milton appears to be arson.
The home on Route 7 was owned by the bank and when firefighters arrived around 2 Saturday morning it was fully engulfed in flames. Crews had trouble reaching the house. Recent rains washed out the driveway forcing firefighters to come up with a plan B.
"We attempted to put a truck down here, but determined that wasn't possible, so we had to pull a large -- about 300 feet of hose -- down to the driveway, set up a portable hydrant. And ran our lines off of that. We have water coming in off of Route 7," says Assistant Chief Chris Poirier of the Milton Fire Department.
The house was a total loss, but crews were able to keep the flames from jumping to a nearby shed. Damage is estimated to be about $75,000 dollars.
