High speed chase ends without arrest

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Vt. -

A high-speed chase in Washington County for a suspect who is wanted for aggravated assault on a police officer.

According to police, the chase began Saturday morning around 10 in Berlin. Multiple departments responded, spikes were deployed, and a border patrol helicopter followed from the air.

Police were tracking 36-year-old Reuben Adams of East Montpelier. He is wanted for multiple charges, including aggravated assault on a police officer, stemming from another incident last week. Last Wednesday, police say he dragged an officer 240 feet during a traffic stop while speeding away. Adams was spotted Saturday morning in the passenger seat of a dark red Chevy Silverado with New York plates. Police say the chase went through several towns in Washington County, but Adams was once again able to elude law enforcement.
