Swimmer injured at Bingham Falls

STOWE, Vt. -

Another swimmer has been injured at Bingham Falls in Stowe.

Rescue crews were called to the falls off Mountain Road just before 1 p.m. Monday. A young man attempted to jump off a rock outcropping into the water but missed.

"I saw the two kids coming down that little ridge down there trying to jump off. The first kid made it OK, the second one slipped and went right off those rocks into the rocks on the bottom," said Mark Karmazin, who witnessed the accident.

The young man was able to swim to shore where he was pulled out of the water by others on the scene. He injured both ankles.

But his scare served as little deterrent to other swimmers who continued to jump off the same rock as soon as the rescue crew carried the young man away.

Last week, a young woman slipped in the same spot and fell to the rocks below, breaking several bones.
