Police rescue 6 neglected dogs in St. Albans, Vt.

Posted: Updated:

St. Albans police say they rescued six malnourished dogs from an apartment in the city.

A barking dog complaint led police to the home on North Main Street. They obtained a search warrant and found two adult dogs and two puppies in poor health. Two other puppies were removed from the residence by a friend of the owners just prior to the officers' arrival.

The Franklin County Humane Society is taking care of the other four.

Police have not identified the owners, but they expect to file criminal charges.
