The Hayes Pallets out of Brandon are this week's featured team.
These 9 and 10 year olds have had exceptional performances on the mount, in the field and in the batters box. On this day we caught up with the team as it put a cap on an undefeated season. A perfect record and some perfect questions for the Lake Monsters, here's the first one.
Cole, a 10-year-old catcher, asks, "Is it as fun now as when you were in Little League?"
Ryan Gorton/Lake Monsters Catcher "Hey Cole, I would say it's more of a job now, this is what I'm getting paid to do, but when the first pitch is thrown, it's still a game and it definitely still holds that fun and excitement."
Dylan, a 10-year-old shortstop, asks, What's the best drill for a double play?"
Melvin Mercedes/Vermont Lake Monsters Second Baseman "Dylan, what I prefer for double plays is just practice your feeds , footwork. And just practice a lot. Grab someone out in the field and just turn two, turn a double play, that's what I'd work on."
Parker, a 10-year-old first baseman, asks "Is there another position you play or another one you'd like to play?"
Boog Powell/Vermont Lake Monsters Outfielder "I would probably play first and pitch, because I'm left handed these are the only two positions I could play. But, I played first base when I was a kid, because I was the only one that could catch our number one pitcher's pick off moves, but I also love catcher and love striking guys out."
