ST. JOHNBURY, Vt. (AP) - A lawyer for a Vermont woman accused along with husband in the killing of a popular St. Johnsbury teacher has withdrawn from the case because of a conflict of interest.

On Friday, the judge granted defense attorney Marc Eagle's request.

Patricia Prue, along with her husband, Allen Prue, are accused of abducting and killing Melissa Jenkins after luring her from her home in March 2012. Both have pleaded not guilty.

Eagle had sought to be removed the case because one of his former clients has become a potential witness for the state.

Eagle says Judge Mary Miles Teachout granted his motion to withdraw.

Patricia Prue previously had asked for a new lawyer but Teacher denied her request.
