West Nile virus has been detected in Addison County.
The Vermont Department of Health says mosquitoes collected in Leicester July 10 tested positive for the virus.
West Nile is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. Three people in Vermont were sickened last year by West Nile. So far, no humans have tested positive this year.
West Nile is not as dangerous as another mosquito-borne illness, Eastern equine encephalitis. EEE has not been found so far.
