Champ's Challenge is this Sunday at the Basin Harbor Club in Vergennes.
Participants can either go for a 40-mile or 8-mile bike ride. And, new this year is a 5K run or walk for people who do not wish to ride. The event raises money for the Cystic Fibrosis Lifestyle Foundation which gives recreational grants to people who suffer from CF. The organization was born in Vermont, but has since spread nationwide. In its 10 years, the Cystic Fibrosis Lifestyle Foundation has given out over 300 recreation grants worth over $200,000.
Mikayla McDonald is one of those grant recipients. She is from Montpelier. Dr. Thomas Lahiri runs the Vermont Cystic Fibrosis Center at Fletcher Allen Health Care.
