Blueberry crop outpaces pickers

Posted: Updated:

While the rain has caused damage for many people across our region, farmers at Paul Mazza's Berry Farm in Colchester say the rain has lead to a bumper.

But all those blueberries-- and not enough pickers-- has posed a problem. The farm invites anyone to come and pick as many berries as possible. But there are still plenty to go around.

"I could use as many as 20 pickers for at least a couple weeks to help us out," said George Oppenik. "It would be an awful waste to waste all those berries just cause there's not enough people to pick them."

The farm is looking for pickers for the next three weeks before the berries begin to fall.
