BOSTON (AP) - Four veteran journalists will receive the Yankee Quill award this autumn for their contributions to journalism in New England.
The Yankee Quill is presented by the Academy of New England Journalists through the New England Society of Newspaper Editors. It's considered the region's highest individual journalistic honor.
The 2013 honorees are Christine Chinlund, managing editor of The Boston Globe; Eliot White, publisher of the Record-Journal of Meriden, Conn.; James Rousmaniere, retired editor and president of The Keene, N.H., Sentinel; and Peter Lord, a longtime Providence Journal reporter and editor who died in 2012.
They will be honored on Oct. 10 along with John Greenleaf Whittier, a 19th-century abolitionist newspaperman from Massachusetts.
