MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The National Life Group Foundation is donating $10,000 to the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps to support its hunger relief and nutrition education programs.
The Youth Conservation Corps is a nonprofit youth, leadership, service, conservation and education organization.
Last year the Conservation Corps worked with the Central Vermont Medical Center to create the Health Care Share, a program that distributes fresh vegetables and chicken every week to 300 families who don't have a consistent source of nutritious food.
National Life Group Foundation President Beth Rusnock says it's excited to support the collaboration between the Youth Conservation Corp and a handful of other groups working to tackle the issue of food insecurity in Vermont communities.
