CONCORD, N.H. -

New Hampshire has officially legalized medical marijuana use.

Governor Maggie Hassan signed it into law Tuesday, making New Hampshire the 19th state to allow seriously ill residents to use marijuana to treat their illnesses.

Patients with cancer and other conditions would be allowed to possess up to 2 ounces of marijuana obtained from dispensaries. Up to four dispensaries will be allowed.

Getting the program up and running could take up to two years.
