Three Detroit teens in the early 1970s put together a rock band. It was punk before punk existed. The three black brothers never signed a record contract. Years later, a family member found an old demo tape in an attic.
"A Band Called Death" is a new rockumentary about the band. It was directed by Mark Covino of Essex and it won awards at South by Southwest. Gina Bullard recently sat down with Covino to talk about the movie and for a preview.
You can see "A Band Called Death" Aug. 9 in Montpelier at the Savoy. There will be a Q&A with Mark Covino afterward.
