Randolph paving project restarted

Posted: Updated:

A paving project in downtown Randolph was just restarted.

The area of Main Street, Central Street, Park Street and Forest Street are being repaved this summer. The work will be performed during the day and will cause some traffic delays.

The project began in May but was stopped short after crews were needed elsewhere. Local businesses say it hurt revenue then and will again now.

"When no one can park or drive down Main Street, they're hesitant to walk down Main Street. You lose any possible, 'Oh, I'll stop in.' You lose all that. And people don't come to town when they know they'll have lines waiting and detours," said Hillary Leicher of Bud & Bella's Bookshop.

As of now, crews expect the work to be done in about eight days.
