Apple crops are thriving

Posted: Updated:

One of the few crops thriving in this weather is apples. Growers are expecting production to be up 30 percent over last year. This is a big increase, even given that last year was a tough year with the early spring frost.

There are 45 apple orchards in the state. Vermont's estimated production for this year is 800,000 bushels. And the financial value of that apple crop is about $15 million.

Executive Director of the Vermont Tree Fruit Growers Association Steve Justis provides what is happening with the harvest.
