Vt. health exchange finalizes rates

MONTPELIER, Vt. -

Rates and plans for Vermont's new health insurance exchange are officially finalized and available for viewing.

In a press conference Wednesday, Gov. Peter Shumlin announced the news, saying people can now compare side by side the 18 plans available as part of the Affordable Care Act. All of the pricing and products available are listed at one central website. Plans will be offered at four levels: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Premium versus out-of-pocket costs will vary, but all will offer the same benefits.

"It will be easy to navigate. You'll be able to match it with subsidies from the federal government and tax credits, and it's affordable. The rates are competitive with the rates we have right now," said Shumlin, D-Vermont.

Vermont is the first state to finalize both its premiums and its choices for its health insurance marketplace.
