A famous face was spotted at the Burlington waterfront Wednesday.
Malia Obama, the president's oldest daughter, took a ride on the Friend Ship around 10 a.m. with members of her out-of-state camp.
The boat's captain told WCAX News he's hosted this camp before, but never a president's daughter. The captain declined to comment on camera, but said a Secret Service agent was on board and other officials followed on safety boats.
Locals say they are surprised to hear the 15-year-old was in the area, but are hopeful she will share her experience in the Green Mountains when she heads back to Washington, D.C.
"As a kid, when I went on adventures I would come home and tell my parents all about it. Hopefully, she enjoyed her time and will share with her parents and Obama will know what a great place and community this is," said Steve Piela of Burlington.
President Obama was last in Vermont in March 2012 and the first lady visited in June 2011.
