Dartmouth student pleads not guilty to rape

Posted: Updated:

HANOVER, N.H. (AP) - A Dartmouth College rugby player from Great Britain has pleaded not guilty to charges that he raped a female student inside her dorm room.

In May, Hanover police arrested 20-year-old Parker Gilbert, a freshman from London, on multiple counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault. The arrest followed a complaint from a female student who said she was attacked after Gilbert entered her unlocked dorm room. A Grafton County Superior Court jury indicted him last month.

The Valley News reports Gilbert, who pleaded not guilty Monday, must remain in New Hampshire except to travel to Massachusetts and Vermont for medical and counseling appointments. He surrendered his passport in May.

Gilbert's attorney, Cathy Green, declined to comment on the case. Grafton County Attorney Lara Saffo also declined to comment.
