CANTON, N.Y. (AP) - A man who confessed to fatally shooting his friend and burying the body in the northern New York woods three years ago has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
The Watertown Daily Times reports that 38-year-old Dustin Trimm of Winthrop was sentenced Monday by a St. Lawrence County Court judge who rejected a motion by Trimm's lawyer to have the plea agreement waived and a trial scheduled.
The lawyer claimed Trimm was under the influence of drugs when he pleaded guilty in April to manslaughter for killing 21-year-old Jason Wing of Fort Covington in August 2010. Wing's body was found in a rural area near the Canadian border early last year.
