Vermont has become a great place for foodies-- people who know and love good food. Local restaurants are racking up awards, but who's the top chef of the Champlain Valley? That title was up for grabs Monday night.
Hundreds of people filled UVM's Davis Center to watch three of the region's best chefs face off in a 50-minute culinary showdown. Each had to make an appetizer and an entrée using this year's secret ingredient-- beer.
In the end, Chef Michael Werneke from Prohibition Pig in Waterbury beat out the competition for the crown.
The event raised about $27,000 for the Champlain Valley Agency on Aging.
