PINKHAM'S GRANT, N.H. (AP) - State police say one person was killed and five others injured when a minivan drifted over the centerline of Route 16 in Pinkham Notch and collided with a car.

Troopers say the accident happened at 10:40 Monday morning near the Appalachian Mountain Club lodge. Police say a Toyota minivan that was headed north crossed into the southbound lane and hit a Pontiac Grand Prix head-on.

The driver of the Pontiac was pronounced dead at the scene and a passenger was taken to a hospital with what police say are non-life threatening injuries. The driver and four children in the van were also taken to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police did not release the names of the dead or injured.

The cause is under investigation.
