DALTON, N.H. (AP) - The New Hampshire attorney general's office report on two shooting deaths in Dalton in 2012 confirms they were the result of a murder-suicide.
Attorney General Joseph Foster said Friday the investigation shows 45-year-old Christopher Smith shot and killed 48-year-old Joseph Besk and shot and injured 54-year-old Wayne Ainsworth in the neck before taking his own life.
The investigation shows Besk and Ainsworth were married, and that Smith, a former boyfriend of Ainsworth's, was a boarder at their home.
Ainsworth said soon after waking up, Smith asked him how he was, then shot him. Besk died of gunshot wounds to the chest and neck; Smith shot himself once in the mouth.
Ainsworth said there had been no recent argument between any of them, and couldn't provide a reason for Smith's behavior.
