Diamond Island Regatta

Posted: Updated:

It was smooth sailing Saturday morning at the Diamond Island Regatta.

Racers from all over the lake gathered at Point Bay Marina to compete in a 3 hour race, starting at Thompson's point, heading up to Essex, New York and back down to Thompson's Point.

Point Bay Marina Manager Todd Smith explained, "This is the fifth race in a series of six in a bigger series called the Lake Champlain Racing Series. We have probably 30 boats from all over the lake taking part."

This is the first year of the Diamond Island Regatta. All proceeds from the event will go to the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. The winners of the races will receive trophies tonight at the Lobster Fest.
