On the heels of one energy company closing, another is gaining ground.
The Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant says it is closing partly because it can't compete against low-cost natural gas.
One example of a low-cost natural gas company is NG Advantage. It is a natural gas company in Milton that buys natural gas from Vermont Gas and TransCanada. NG Advantage then transforms this gas into compressed natural gas. Next, it delivers the gas to customers beyond the reach of the Vermont Gas pipeline. The Evslin family from Stowe started NG Advantage two years ago. Now, they plan to open a second site in New Hampshire.
Seven Days writer Ken Picard wrote a cover story on this growing natural gas firm.
