A brief but intense storm caused flooding in White River Junction Wednesday evening.
The water was up to car doors, and drivers had to be towed to safety. Storm drains overflowed, a large water main broke and streets filled over the curbs with water, which also flooded basements around the central business district.
And nearby, firefighters in Lebanon were called out to a two-story house fire on Mack Avenue, which sent smoke through downtown West Lebanon and White River Junction. The house was unoccupied.
