SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A New York hospital is reinforcing its ban on electronic cigarettes after a patient on oxygen was burned by a fire that erupted while she was puffing on one of the devices. Syracuse Fire Department investigator Joe Galloway tells The Post-Standard the exact cause of last month's fire at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center has not yet been determined.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Another group hoping to build a casino in upstate New York has submitted its $1 million application fee to the state. The owners of Broome County's Traditions Resort and Conference Center in the Southern Tier say they made the required payment yesterday.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 47-year-old man who fled to Africa after being charged in 2010 with raping a child in western New York has been captured in Britain. The Onondaga (ahn-uhn-DAH'-gah) County sheriff's office says Tobias Bowen was taken into custody after getting off a plane Saturday at a London airport.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A new poll of New York voters shows Governor Andrew Cuomo maintaining a double-digit lead over his Republican challenger. The Siena College poll released today shows the Democrat leading Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino 58 percent to 28 percent. It was 61 percent to 26 percent in Siena's poll last month.
