Gov. Peter Shumlin will be looking to fill three high-profile government jobs in the near future.
Justice Brian Burgess retired from the Vermont Supreme Court last month, giving Shumlin a chance for a second appointment to the high court.
The governor also will be looking to appoint a new education secretary, replacing Armando Vilaseca who took the job for one year.
And there is also an opening on the Public Service Board which oversees utilities.
Shumlin says he hopes to fill all three jobs soon.
"You know, as soon as possible. I meet with the applicants and see one I like, we'll move. If we don't, we won't," said Shumlin, D-Vermont.
The governor says he expects to conduct interviews with the candidates in the next 8-10 days, hoping to have that process completed before his upcoming trip to China.
