Burlington gets center for campus police chiefs

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Burlington will be home to a new National Center for Campus Public Safety.

Consulting firm Margolis Healy and the University of Vermont received a $2.3 million grant to get the center up and running. The goal is create a centralized resource for campus police chiefs across the country. It will also promote innovative practices specific to campus public safety efforts and develop comprehensive responses.

The National Center was chartered by Congress earlier this year in the wake of recent school tragedies.
