'Free My Ride' campaign tackles secondhand smoke in cars

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -

In the last week, one in three kids were in a car with someone who was smoking. And students want to get the word out about the dangers of secondhand smoke. Along with the state, they've launched the Free My Ride Campaign.

Hannah Crowley is a sixth-grader at Hunt Middle School and Mai Linh Vankirk is a freshman at Essex High School. Both worked on the Free My Ride project. And Dr. Harry Chen is Vermont's Health Commissioner, whose department helped develop the program.
