State Fair wraps up 2013 run

RUTLAND, Vt. -

The Vermont State Fair wraps up Sunday evening, and organizers say it was a big year.

This year marks the fair's 168th season. The fair ran for 10 days with a wide variety of attractions. Fair goers could venture on rides, or browse through the dozens of vendors. With strong ties to Vermont agriculture, there were plenty of animals and ag exhibits for families to see. Organizers say numbers are up this year, and estimate 95,000 came through the gates.

"All in all, the numbers are up -- the fair is doing well. The carnival is one of the best we've ever had -- Coleman Brothers. The weather has been against us. Last night we had a good crowd here," said the fair's Charlie Brothers.

The championship demolition derby was held Sunday evening to end the 2013 Vermont State Fair.
