Union, CCTA at impasse

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Bus drivers in Chittenden County are once again threatening to strike.

The drivers union and the Chittenden County Transportation Authority are at an impasse in negotiations over a new contract. The union says one of the drivers' complaints is the amount of time they have to remain on call between shifts. Some drivers work during morning and evening rush hours, but are otherwise on standby during the day and aren't paid for that.

The last contract, two years ago, was settled just hours before the drivers planned to go on strike.
