Castleton football suspends six indefinitely

Posted: Updated:
CASTLETON, Vt. -

Four more Castleton Football players have been suspended indefinitely from the team for their possible involvement in the theft of merchandise from a sporting goods store. They join starting quarterback George Bucharis and wide receiver Brandon Boyle who were both cited for stealing from that same store last night.

This leaves a huge gap for the Spartans to fill in Saturday's home opener against Endicott, especially in that high powered offense. Busharis nearly broke the team record for passing yards in a game last week. Setting records is all Springfield's Boyle has done during his three plus years at Castleton.

No one in school history has caught more passes for more yards in a single game than Boyle. He also set the team mark in catches, yards, and Touchdowns in a single season. His receiving yards and touchdowns has him ranked amongst the nation's best. From a football standpoint, these suspensions hurt, from a school and program standpoint, coach Mark Klatt told Channel 3 it's simply disappointing.
