South Burlington firefighters honor those lost on 9/11

Posted: Updated:

On Sept. 11, 2001, America was hit with the deadliest terror attack it has ever seen. Thousands of people were killed when planes plowed into the twin towers, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania. Ceremonies took place across the country to honor those who lost their lives.

In South Burlington, firefighters and community members gathered to honor the lives lost at ground zero. They've come together every year since 2001 and will continue the tradition for years to come.

"Usually when things like that happen in the fire service, no matter what part of the country it is, it ripples through all the fire houses in the country," said Capt. Gary Rounds of the South Burlington Fire Department.

Ceremonies took place throughout Vermont for the victims and their families.
