Researchers say Asian clams continue to spread in Lake George despite efforts to control the invasive species.
The clams were discovered in Lake George a few years ago and have multiplied rapidly. A task force attempted to stop their spread by placing 7 acres of mats on the lake floor that smother the clams. Now, biologists say though the mats have worked, the clams are still spreading to new locations in the lake.
Concerns are the clams could also spread to Lake Champlain.
Asian clams create water quality problems, harming other species.
