The state has received its first check from former State Police Sgt. Jim Deeghan.
It was written for $4,700. It is a small portion of the $200,000 he owes the state for lying about overtime hours on his time sheet. He is currently serving a 2-year prison sentence for stealing from taxpayers. The rest of the money will come from his pension over the next 6 years.
Deeghan's Colchester home recently sold for $365,000. He and his family still receive health and dental benefits.
