Vt. storms mean more outages

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Many Vermonters were still without power Friday after another round of storms that slammed the state Thursday night.

Green Mountain Power says at the peak of the storms, 42,000 people were in the dark. At 5 p.m., a little more than 1,000 people still didn't have power. The utility says some customers may not get their power restored until Saturday. GMP is bringing in backup crews from out of state to help.

"But it's a really difficult phase of the recovery because we have 300 separate incidences. So, in each case we may have a couple bucket trucks that may have to reset some poles, string some wires, cut down some trees, and it will restore power to a handful of customers," said Dotty Schnure of Green Mountain Power.
