Burlington is the stage for Pride Vermont this weekend.

The event celebrates the LGBT community. Events kick off Friday night, including "Out on Church Street." People can buy $10 medallions and can get 10 percent off at more than 30 stores, restaurants and bars on the Church Street Marketplace and surrounding streets. Money raised supports Pride Vermont, which celebrates progress on LGBT rights. But the group says there's more work to do.

"Out on Church Street is a new event that we just started this year, and it's an opportunity for folks to take advantage patronizing our local businesses on Church Street that support Pride Vermont. Sure, it's a celebration where we all can get together and have a good time, but it's also a big part of making the entire state and the country aware that we are viable members of our state," said Jan Knutsen, a Pride Vermont committee member.

The medallions are being sold at numerous businesses on Church Street.

Events continue Saturday and Sunday, which is when the parade and festival take place. Click here for more information.
