The Vermont Public Service Board has a new member.
Governor Peter Shumlin Monday appointed Rep. Margaret Cheney (D-Norwich) to the post. Cheney has served in the legislature since 2006 and serves as Vice Chair on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee. She is also the wife of U.S. Congressman Peter Welch. She replaces David Coen on the three-member board, which regulates utility issues for the state.
Cheney will resign from the Legislature and will begin serving on the board starting Oct. 1.
