A Vermont music teacher is a finalist for a first-ever award from the Grammys.
Lisa Bianconi is the head of the music department in Westminster. She directs two choirs, a jazz band and a marching band at the Kurn Hattin Home. The Grammys just announced she is one of 25 semi-finalists for the foundation's new Music Educator Award. Bianconi competed with more than 30,000 initial nominations.
Ten finalists will be announced in December.
The winner will be flown to Los Angeles to accept his or her award at the Grammys in February and earn $10,000 for his or her school.
