Sea lamprey treatment starting for Saranac River

Posted: Updated:
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -

Sea lamprey control will begin in the Saranac River Wednesday.

Treatment will begin at 7 a.m. Water use will be restricted during that time. This will impact not only Saranac River water users, but also those using water from neighboring lakes.

This is primarily near the Imperial Mills Dam and the river mouth and areas 3 miles south of the river.

Expect water restrictions for two to five days. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will announce when the chemical has dissipated and the water is potable and safe for recreation.
