Panthers Ready to Pounce in 2013

Posted: Updated:

The Middlebury Panthers get their season going Saturday at Bowdoin.  It was a great 2012 for the Panthers.  They finished the year with a 7-1 record, their best season since 2007.  That one loss came to the conference champs Trinity.  The Panthers started the season 5-0, their best start in 20 years.

The Panthers success rests primarily on the arm of McCallum Foote. The senior broke the NESCAC record for passing yards in a season, but a couple of his main targets have graduated. All-American Billy Chapman is gone along with conference record setter Zach Driscoll. It's a new crop of receivers, but the expectations remain the same.

"Teams are going to be gunning for us after the success that we had last year," Middlebury Quarterback McCallum Foote said.
