HANOVER, N.H. -

Dartmouth College has a new president. The college inaugurated Philip Hanlon in a ceremony Friday.

Hanlon is a 1977 Dartmouth alum who most recently served as provost at the University of Michigan. He plans to continue teaching mathematics at Dartmouth.

In his speech he commented on the school's framework -- helping students succeed.

Hanlon is Dartmouth's 18th president. Hanlon succeeds Jim Yong Kim, who left Dartmouth in 2012 to become president of the World Bank.
