Vermont's unemployment rate held steady last month after rising in each of the previous three months.
The Vermont Department of Labor announced Friday that the seasonally-adjusted statewide unemployment rate for August was 4.6 percent. The comparative national average was 7.3 percent, which was down one-tenth of a percent from July.
August of last year marked a turning point toward several months of declining unemployment. State labor officials say there are indications that could happen again this fall.
