JERICHO, Vt. -

A former member of the Underhill Jericho Fire Department is facing charges for calling his own crew out for fake rescue calls.

Vermont State Police say Joshua Stukes, 24, called 911 twice in July, first reporting a person in the river behind Joe's Snack Bar in Jericho. The fire department and Colchester Technical rescue responded, but found no one in the water. Then police say he called 911 again four days later reporting a fire in Jericho that didn't exist.

Police say Stukes was a member of the fire department at the time of the calls.

Stukes is charged with false reporting. He is due in court in December.
