Congressman Peter Welch (D-Vermont) is making stops across the state, talking to businesses about Vermont's health care exchange.
Under the Affordable Care Act, states are required to set up the exchanges, where individuals and businesses with fewer than 50 employees will shop for health insurance. Welch spoke at a forum in Springfield Monday morning and says Vermont is preparing for the changes ahead.
"We are definitely better positioned and it is not necessarily because it is going to be easy, but it is because we are cooperating. You've got employers, individuals and our providers, the Congressional delegation and of course the Governor's office saying, if there are problems, if there are jumps along the road, lets work together, lets listen to the people who are experiencing them and lets see if we can solve them," Welch said.
Welch has been holding these forums around the state. The next one is scheduled for Wednesday in Rutland.
