Northern Pass Project public meetings at Plymouth State College

CONCORD, N.H. -

A series of public meetings about the Northern Pass Project will continue Tuesday night at Plymouth State College.

Representatives from the U.S. Department of Energy are attending the public hearings to talk about this power project, and address questions and concerns.

If approved, the $1.4 billion project will bring hydroelectric power from Canada into the New England grid. This power would then serve more than 1 million homes.

Opponents say the transmission towers are bad for the environment, will lower property values and hurt tourism. Supporters say the power would reduce carbon emissions.

Hearings are Tuesday night at Plymouth State University, Wednesday at Mountain View Grand Resort in Whitefield and Thursday at Colebrook Elementary School.
